You’ve probably heard the term ‘saved’ and have either laughed or scratched your head because it has some very strange connotations. Unfortunately, this term has been tossed around so much it has lost it’s intended meaning. To save is defined as: to rescue from harm, danger, or loss. What is so dangerous or harmful that we would actually need saving from it? The truth is, hell is a very real place set up for those who have done wrong in the sight of God and have not repented. It is a torturous place that will not cease in it’s eternal pain as you cannot escape by dying. Why would God do such a thing? What right does he have to put people in such a place? This is because all have sinned and have come up short when it comes to pleasing the King of the Kings (Romans 3:23, Romans 6:23). In fact, God is perfect and cannot be near sin (Habakkuk 1:13) God is just, therefore it is His responsibility to punish sin (Jer. 50:31, Matt. 25:46, 2 Thess. 1:9, 2 Pet. 2:9, Heb. 10:29). The good news is that He did not decide to destroy earth. Instead, He sent a solution: Jesus Christ- Savior of the world. (John 3:16)
